Alliance candidate for Dunedin, Victor Billot, is the newly elected Leader of the Alliance Party. Billot is a long-time resident of Dunedin and works as the National Communications Officer for the Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ).

He was born in Dunedin in 1972 and is a graduate of the University of Otago. He is a well-known local writer. Billot is standing on a platform of providing a democratic socialist alternative to the establishment parties.
